But Google in unexpected move has turned off its light at Google.co.uk homepage.<\/p>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/blog.flashcolony.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/google-goes-black.gif' alt='Google Earth Hour 2008' \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Google users in the United Kingdom will notice today that we &#8220;turned the lights out&#8221; on the Google.co.uk homepage as a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.earthhour.org\/\">Earth Hour<\/a>. As to why we don&#8217;t do this permanently &#8211; it saves no energy; modern displays use the same amount of power <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2007\/08\/is-black-new-green.html\">regardless of what they display<\/a>.
