Adobe Developer Center is now called Adobe Developer Connection (ADC). The enhanced website looks more attractive with enhanced interface for more connectivity. I haven’t time to check it well enough, but I can say it is easier to find what I’m looking for. It seems Adobe is trying to get more involved with developers community. In addition, Flex cookbook is now easier to access including many other sections unlike before where the link were scattered between pages.

Flash player September penetration number is now up on Adobe’s website. Flash Player 9 has jumped from 90.3% last month to 93.3% this month. Flash Player 8 and 7 are on 98.1% worldwide.
A new post in neatfilm blog about when we should select Flash and/or Flex. He starts with arguing about Creativity, Development Speed, Performance, and Testing of both technologies. The article ends up with pros when we select Flash, Flex or both technologies.

Adobe announces the free Colin Moock’s tutorials for AS3.0. The tutorial will only cover basics of AS3.0. The tutorials will be a one full day event which will cover all the basics. However, this tutorial will be available on 10 cities around the world (Yea not even one on middle-east!). Hop in and register here if you live there or if you’re in the right city at the right time! Great news Flex fellas out there… Adobe has partnered with Total Training to offer us a free online training for Flex 2. It totals of 17 hours of free Flex training online.
An interview (more likely a discussion) with Adobe’s technical evangelist, James Ward, talking about the upcoming Flex 3 product. The feature that took my attention is Persistent Framework Cache which can lower the size of the application ALOT because of available caches from previous visited Flex application. Another great feature Ward stated is the memory and performance profiler which allows the developer to know exactly the memory leak and performance bottleneck.
Flex 3 SDK will be available for free under MPL license. And one of their goals is to make Flex 3 SDK will be fully open source upon the release of Flex 3. Keep up the good work Adobe! Make us proud!
As predicted, Adobe now is taking a wider deployment of rich content lured by the competition of Microsoft. The battle field, if I may say, is starting to heat up while flash players installs is closing in to 3 billion. Ted Patrick announced the next version of flash player (codename Astro) is going to be shown off at MAX 2007 Chicago. More details is posted in Ted’s post.
