YouTube is experimenting HD video casting in addition to the standard video we are watching in YouTube. To watch an HD version of any video you will have to add “&fmt=6” without the double-quotation at the end of the URL.
Here an example: http://youtube.com/watch?v=CQzUsTFqtW0&fmt=6
Adobe has announced the availability of Flex 3 and AIR 1.0 for public. With the release of AIR runtime, web technologies has now moved ahead one big step out of the browser into users desktop. Now you can deploy web technologies such as Flash and Ajax into desktop environment that runs across operating systems.

Adobe has also launched Open Source Site, and according to Adobe “This site presents the definitive view into open source activities at Adobe, including details regarding projects that Adobe participates in and hosts”.

And a great news at least for me, if you are a student or a faculty employment you can get a free version of Adobe Flex Builder 3 Pro here.
Some people in Kuwait are complaining about Fasttelco‘s security issues where some users are logging into different account. It started with a forum post that a user is experiencing some problem with his gmail account and logging on different account. That user was able to see other’s information and read his email. Google says that they are now working with Fasttelco to solve this problem.
However, it seems that the problem extended even more and reports are coming that the same problem is happening with Facebook and hotmail. A caching problem in Fasttelco is causing this glitch as the report says.
Fasttelco is one of the few ISPs in Kuwait and was established in 2000. More information about Fasttelco can be found here.

Facebook has Developer Platform for some time now. Obviously, MySpace won’t stay behind and let Facebook take all the credit. To counter Facebook, MySpace has announced the release of its own Developer Platform. That’s not all, MySpace Developer Platform is supporting OpenSocial API, an API that was released by Google awhile ago and has been giggling in the web since then.

Today SUN announced the intention to acquire MySQL, the famous, at least among developers, open source database company. $1 billion has been plunk down and the acquisition is expected to complete at the beginning of second half of 2008.
The internet crashed during Steve Jobs keynote, which didn’t even happen during Bill Gate’s last speech a week ago. Big service provider websites have crashed during the keynote such as Twitter, StumbleUpon and CrunchGears. They couldn’t handle weight of all Apple fans trying to know the latest from Apple and as soon as possible.

Apple announced the new MacBook Air, an uber ultra-portable notebook. But the problem people are bitching about all over the blogosphere is the battery built-in(Up to 5 hours), you have to hand over your MacBook to Apple to replace the battery if anything happened to it. However, Macbook Air supports multi-touch pad, bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and 802.11n WiFi. Ultimately, it will only cost $120 to change the battery but I don’t think people would like to hand over their laptop and not using it for few days, especially with all these geeks out there wanting to touch it! This beauty machine will cost around $1,800 and add like $20 for extra add-ons. I think it is cheap for an environment-friendly laptop with mercury free LCD! totally recyclable. Actually, there are different prices for different options, you can preorder it at Apple Store.

I’m sure you all heard, I think, that Bill Gates is stepping down this July from being a Microsoft CEO to a retired IT Ninja. Anyway, in his last keynote speech, at CES 2008, he introduced Microsoft Surface, a new cutting-edge surface computing. Amazingly designed user interface and way too stunning, at least for me as I love technology, with hilarious most-eye bubbling, I don’t make sense anymore, and I can’t wait to have one of these computer surfaces to study in it rather than studying in my boring woodish desk.

Technology has gone too far as the surface computer was able to recognize physical objects and interact with it. As demonstrated in the website, you can put your cell phone in the surface and a circular menu around the cell phone pops up that interacts with fingers. The video also shows how you can shuffle easily through countless photos, music, movies… by the tip of your finger!
