Bill Gates will give the opening keynote speech for the International Consumer Electronics Show within few hours from now. It is expect that this speech will be last speech for Bill Gates since he is going to step down from the CEO role at Microsoft later this year. Holy cow!
Macworld 2008 will kick off in January 14 which is 10 days away. Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote speech in the biggest Mac conference and expo in the world. I hear rumors that a big cheese will be announced in this conference… Hmmm, iPhone 2.0?

The Ministry of Communications in Kuwait decided to cut all international calls, except GCCs, by 20%. The decree is already in effect since the beginning of the year. An official spokesman says that the reason for slashing the price is to “curb the spread of unlicensed international call agents and exercise control on the international calls ‘black market’ in addition to reducing the financial burden on citizens and residents”. AOL announced today that it will no longer support Netscape Navigator, the first browser for many of us, including me! It’s time for Netscape’s fans to say goodbye for the 13 years old browser.
As of this month, Netscape had only 0.6 percent of the browser market, which was still dominated by Internet Explorer with more than 77 percent, according to Web application and analytics firm Net Applications. Firefox was gaining, however, with market share just over 16 percent.
Zain, the third-biggest Gulf Arab mobile telecommunication firm by market value, concluded the purchase of 100% of share capital of Iraqna company for mobile telecommunication services in Iraq. The acquisition costs $1,2 billion and was made through MTC-Atheer, Zain’s Iraqi subsidiary, which was one of the 3 mobile telecommunication firms operating in Iraq.
Commenting on the transaction, Dr. Saad Al Barrak, Managing Director-Deputy Chairman of Zain Group, stated:”We are delighted that MTC-Atheer acquisition if Iraqna will create one of the most dynamic and resourceful mobile telecoms companies in Iraq and in the region at large

Zain has been expanding their market, and now they cover 20 countries across the Middle East and Africa. The firm, formally called MTC started in Kuwait, is now in the process of building the 3rd Saudia Arabian mobile phone network firm.
While surfing the web and trying to find the meaning of a word I usually use Google Translate. Today I noticed that the English to Arabic and the Arabic to English translator no longer have the word “BETA” next to them. Does that means it’s out of beta? However, the logo still has the sign BETA as you can see on the picture.

As the world mobile phone subscription approaches 3.3 billion subscribers (1 of every 2 earthling), there is nothing strange for google to get involve in these kinds of mobile market. The Andriod mobile OS announced by google was a first step for google to deepen their touch in the market. It’s also a good way for google, the advertisement freak, to publish their ads in mobile phones. The web is momentum games were the company who dominates people’s devices will revenue billions of dollars if not trillions.
Android + spectrum = GPhone network! I think that might actually work. Hmmm should I get an iPhone or wait to see what happens with Google?!
